40 Years of Change: Steve Budd on the UK Music Industry's Evolution
STEPHEN BUDD MUSIC REPRESENTS SOME OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PRODUCERS, SONGWRITERS, MIXERS, ENGINEERS ON THE PLANET, ALONGSIDE A SELECTION OF THE BEST UP-AND-COMING CREATIVE STUDIO AND WRITING TALENT. FOR OVER 20 YEARS, OUR PRODUCER AND SONGWRITER CLIENTS HAVE WORKED WITH THE MOST SUCCESSFUL AND CREATIVE ARTISTS IN THE WORLD AND HAVE WON NUMEROUS GRAMMY AND BRIT AWARDS.
Alongside the management of producers, Stephen Budd Music has had considerable success in Artist Management. Previous clients include Heaven 17, Gang of Four, Tanita Tikaram, The Magic Numbers, The Sound, Big Sound Authority, Dry the River and Songhoy Blues. SBM currently represent Nubiyan Twist and Onipa.
As well as founding and continuing to run SBM, Stephen is a co-founder of London’s OneFest Music Festival, of Damon Albarn’s Africa Express project and the NH7 Weekender festivals in India. He founded the War Child charity’s “Passport Back To The Bars” concert series and is a co-executive producer of Amnesty International ‘Give A Home’ global concert series. He sits on the advisory boards of “House Concerts” innovators Sofar Sounds, the“Music Cities” consultancy Sound Diplomacy and the DMZ Peace Train Festival in South Korea.
In June 2017, Stephen completed his 3-year term as co-chairman of the MMF (Music Managers Forum). Stephen is a recognised TV commentator on music industry issues, regularly appearing on a variety of British TV news shows and also speaking at many Music Industry conferences around the globe. Stephen also has an A&R role at Cooking Vinyl Records signing and developing selected artists and in his spare time…. he DJ’s African music of the 1970’s.
